As market leader, Nutri-oeuf grades 38% of all the eggs produced
in Quebec. We service over 500 customers (supermarkets, food chains),
and distributors (restaurants and convenience stores) covering most
of Quebec, except for the outlying districts. Our annual business
volume exceeds $40 million.
Nutri-oeuf is supplied by 37 producers of which 33 are shareholders.
These producers are found in the regions of St.Hyacinthe, Drummondville,
Mont Laurier, the Eastern townships, and Lanaudiere.
The company employs approximately 70 people, mostly full time employees.
Each employee is involved in bringing the eggs (over 336 million
eggs per year) from the producers and distributing them to supermarkets
and distributors.

History |
 |
|
Nutri-oeuf
was founded in 1987 following the dissolution of the Quebec Consumer
Egg Producers Federation sales agency and the closing of Pro-oeuf
Inc., whose activities we then took over.
Over the years, the growth of Nutri-oeuf has been due to the merging
of different producers who were distributing their own products
and, more importantly, through the efforts of the shareholders
to acquire those quotas which became available on the market.
As a result, the number of Nutri-oeuf hens has grown from 600,000
in 1987 to about 1,200,000 today.
From adventure to adventure, from fire to fire, Nutri-oeuf is
now housed in its third factory in 13 years. From 1987 to April
1993, the factory was situated on St. Charles Street in La Providence,
Quebec; at that moment, a fire forced a move to new premises.
This was established at 6655 Picard Street, the site of the present
factory. However, on April 30, 2000, another fire broke out and
caused considerable damage. We had to start all over. As a result,
over $5 million were invested in rebuilding, expansion, and purchasing
equipment.

An
ultramodern factory
$3 million were spent on the new building. Floor surface expanded
from 26,000 square feet to 72,000 square feet. Refrigeration
and air exchange systems were installed to control temperature
and humidity from one area to another.
$2 million were invested in high-technology grading equipment
imported from Holland. We are now able to wash, examine, grade,
and pack almost 12,000 dozens per hour.
Finally, Nutri-oeuf established the infrastructure needed to
continue its growth and adapt to future developments.
